If you’re interested, here are a few music podcasts I like to listen to occasionally.
classical
+An Intimate Journey Through the Music of Yo-Yo Ma
Featuring Yo-Yo Ma and members of the Silk Road Ensemble. I like they way they talk about music and process. I also recommend listening to the earlier podcasts from last year featuring stories from Yo-Yo Ma’s experiences. It’s up there amongst my favorite five.
triphop/abstract hiphop
+Ninja Tune Podcast
Ninja Tune featuring the Big Dada, Ninja Cast, Coldcut, and Solid Steel podcasts
drum & bass
+Hospital Records Podcast
Hospital is a dnb record label hosted by London Elektricity. London Elektricity is very talkative and humorous, and I can’t get enough of the music. They welcome anyone to send their demos in, and occasionally they have Democasts where they play a set the ones they dig. I quite like this podcast, and its also in my top five.
+Human Elements Podcast
Human Elements is a dnb label from Makoto.
+Spearhead Records Podcast
Spearhead Records is a dnb label with nice music.
+Drum & Bass Arena Podcast
Drum & Bass Area is a dnb site. The podcast has mixes and interviews from various dnb djs. They also feature sets of unsigned artists music. The unknown is exciting.
mixed dance/electronic music genres
+OM Records Podcast
OM Records is a label with house, deep house, downtempo, triphop, and hiphop genres. Under the podcasts there’s OM, OM: Soul, and OM: Hiphop.
+Beatport Burners
Stemming from Beatport, this features music of various genres, though in my listening not nearly as many genres, labels, or variety as I’d like to have showcased. Still, its decent listen for mostly new electro, minimal techno, and for tracks you may have passed up while digging through their site.
various genres
+XLR8R Magazine Podcast
XLR8R Magazine’s podcast with weekly and exclusive mixes
+Urb Magazine Podcast
Mixes of various genres.
+Fabric, London
Fabric is a record label and a nightclub with various dance/electronic music artists. In their podcast they have artists come and play music they like, what inspired them in the past and current. So its usually wide variety of genres from oldies, modern, and the obscure. Quite good so far. It’s an interesting listen.

In other news…
I’d like to find a really good techno podcast or radio stream. For good house? Well, house stuff is everywhere really and easier for me to find.
I thought I was going to get coal and a tentacle armed monkey key chain in the mail, instead I received this little fella…
Numark PT01 Portable Turntable (thank u!)
A cute record player.
I’d been thinking of getting a smallish turntable just for playing records for awhile. Now can I listen to the records that haven’t touched a needle in years, and ones I never had the chance to listen. Some of these I bought purely for the humor it gave, the name of the artist, or design. I’ll make sure to take some photos of a few and post them up sometime.
