It’s be pretty quiet here in my blog, and I apologize, but I have been keeping up with one of those silly twitter things.  (my twitter page) I’m trying it out for awhile. I do like how it they’re short bits that, I’m guessing, not many people actually read. It is a ridiculous social blogging tool, but when people are micro blogging in masses about similar things, it seems to have impact that has made the news so many times within the past year. It’s a curious thing. So if it’s still quiet on here, than check my twitter if you must find out about meaningless small happenings in my life.

Other than that, life has been slow this summer and I’m still searching for a full time gig. Things are goin, but goin at a slower pace. Which is much better than insanity, I suppose.

If you happen to have the time check out my boyfriend page on behance.  His photos were recently featured on Photography Served. Ivan Lo on Photography Served

So I’m staying with my cousin at his parent’s house here in Vegas temporarily right now in an effort to escape my Mom’s house, which is frequently quite messy because of my siblings and dogs. I’m still applying for jobs and getting things together. I’m much more relaxed now that I’m not in Venice, CA anymore. I would much like to put that negativity there behind me and just concentrate on doing good design and no more ‘bs’. I’ll spare you the details with all that for now and relieve some of my gripes later on. Here at my cousin’s, his parent’s house is pretty nice but it’s located near somewhat questionable areas. This past year I believe, this house was broken in to with many things stolen, even with a security system on. It is probably because this place is usually used as a vacation home where outsiders can observe and check the house out easily. I was a little apprehensive in coming here but I think it should be alright as long as someone is noticed to be living in the house. Luckily, I won’t be staying here for very long. I’ll be leaving Vegas for my hometown in Illinois within this month. It’s like I left Illinois after I graduated just to take a very long way to get back. weeee! I’m pretty happy about going back, honestly.

I’m debating whether or not to upgrade the ram on my 15inch Powerbook G4. It’s either buy two 1gb slots for a total of 2gb of ram, or wait until this computer dies. This computer has given me a world of problems in the past where I’ve had to have both my ram slots replace, hard drive replaced, battery, and the ac adapter replaced. Luckily, I was under warranty for all those times except I bought a generic ac adapter replacement on my own. Now that my warranty is finished, I’m hesitant to upgrade it because I’ve had such bad luck with the ram slots on this thing, especially because I wouldn’t buy them from apple. On the other hand, it’s incredibly frustrating working with a slow running computer. It’s takes forever to work in adobe programs and frequently crashes when I do. ugh. So it’s either I risk canning my computer with new ram for greater speed and flow, or waste precious time and put up with it till this dies and save for a better computer. blasted!

So, it looks like I’m gonna have to start job hunting again hardcore. The studio downgraded me from full time designer to freelance aka laying my ass down. they say its because of the economy but they’re probably just hiring someone else. it was good learning experience i guess, especially right out of college. It was a challenging experience. Like design boot camp in case design in college wasn’t enough. I often say it’s like finals week every week. I never expected to last this long there anyways. When I first go there I was convinced that I would be gone in a month. It just sucks cause I’m not sure what to do about my apartment. My lease ends in May. ugh…LA is eating me alive.

there’s a slew of little and big incidents that really bummed me out here in Venice, ca. My boyfriend’s camera equipment ($2000 worth) was taken from my car, for instance. Seems like all this place has got going for it is the weather accompanied by some sand and some water.

Time to run back to Chicago, maybe? maybe foolish to go back, but life is short and I really want to spend my time with the people I care about and doing work that is carefully researched and thoughtfully designed. There’s a part of me that’s completely okay with this, too. Builds my own ideas about my philosophy in design, do’s and dont’s, how relevant/important it can be to start things by hand, and small things that are needed in the process to not end up clueless. I have things I want to do and I can’t do it at a place where it’s not comfortable for me to breathe, creatively. There’s a long list of things I can complain about like lack of communication often times when things are busy, for example. And there’s an equally long list of things I can be thankful for learning about such as gaining skills in working in a team and image making. It was a good and equally frustrating experience here indeed. But enough of that… moving on…

let the hunting begin… hire me.

Apologies for the lack of updates. There’s a lot going on and at the same time not a whole lot at the same time. I’ll write more soon. My grandma’s sister, Lola Kaka, turned 97. It was the first time I saw her fully aware and in good spirits since I’ve been in cali. When she recognized me she said I got fat! hehe…probably cause the last time she saw me I was probably 11-13 years old and had sticks for limbs. hehehe. happy bithday!

bbc article link
Ilham Anas is a photographer who is finding fame as someone who happens to be an Obama Look-A-Like from Indonesia. He’s featured in this Philippine pharmaceutical commercial and all he has to do is smile, wear a suit, and eat some kare-kare that did not agree with his stomach or heart burn? not sure. lol. funny commercial hehe

Its nice having a new/intelligent president in office. I’m sure there will be many more look-a-likes/impersonators/fanatics/memorabilia to come. cheers

I turned 25 a few days ago. That day I went work and left kinda early to go out for dinner and had a mini foie gras burger, half of a German chili dog, and cheese cake. It was awesome. :) I’d say a good a way to top off half my life.

list things i need but don’t have time to buy, will soon, or bleh

1. cold medicine (i fear a cold is coming..the stuffy nose tells all)

2. a space heater (gets chilly at night in my apt)

3. can opener (i have cans of tuna and sardines that are waiting for me!)

4. mace (to fiend off beach bums)

5. food! (I need you! jk… I eat at work most of the time so I’m okay.)

6. a good sweater (this could wait till i go to vegas, I suppose)

7. sneakers (left mine at my aunt house a few months ago… socks and sandals aren’t cutting it anymore… makes me feel silly :P )

8. band aids and ointment (go away mosquito/bug bites!)

9. my dignity as a designer (it comes and goes …depending on the requirements for a project…damn fussy clients/marketing teams making me break the design principles I hold dear...let me do my duty! :/ oh well…I know it comes with the territory sometimes, so I shouldn’t complain. I’m guessing it’s the downside to working on things of higher profile…I don’t really mind if I’m doing what they need…It’s more just annoying if anything.)

10. get my wisdom teeth pulled (my bottom left wisdom tooth has been hurting a lot, its coming up a bit now, eeks! I don’t I can ignore it anymore)

11. develop film (I have a small hand full of rolls I want to get developed)
